Very cheaply made

I just got mine in the mail today after ordering it online 12 days ago. I've been super excited because I love the look but this is literally the worst backpack I've ever had (and I have about 40 different backpacks). The backpanel feels like it's made of thick thick hard cardboard, and the straps feel the same way. The straps literally crunch and crease the same way cardboard does. The bottom of the bag also sounds like it has some cheap weird paper filling and also crunches when it moves around. It's absolutely absurd and wild that Backcountry has the audacity to retail this bag at $100. I got this bag on sale for $54 and I feel that I even over paid for this bag. If you want a similar bag at the same price point then consider the Patagonia Refugio 26L for $109. Backcountry should be embarrassed to be selling this.

Great Looking & Functional

While we all would applaud a certain OTHER company's switch to recycled materials; let's face it: The shiny exterior of THIS Pack and that company's previous offerings is a Heck of a lot more attractive than Matte. It's true and we all know it. This is a very worthy pack for such things as school, taking onto the airplane, etc. That some guy tried to hike the PCT using this Pack is a reflection on HIM not this Pack. At these prices, this is a killer deal and a "real steal". Grab one!

Great Backpack

My college-aged son spotted this backpack and I bought it for him, since he needed an all-weather/waterproof backpack for walking around in the rain and snow on campus. It’s perfect! He can fit textbooks and a laptop in it, and it is indeed great for nasty, wet weather. A winner!

Not if you carry water

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I bought the 30L cannot update my review on that bag because backcountry system will not allow it even though customer service instructed me to do so. They offered no compensation after I contacted them. Im not happy with their quality having paid for the bag to get two months of use. We started carrying a Nalgene silo for two days and it was too snug we switched to a skinny bottle. The water bottle pocket stinks. The fabric of the bag is sticky and bottles cannot slide in and out. The mesh isn’t stretchy then becomes stretched out. The bag is coming apart at the seams around the water bottle pocket. There is now a hole in the bag. 2 months of going to school. Really stinks. Customer service offered nothing I won’t buy backcountry products again.

Backpack Destination 20l

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Size Bought:
20

I would never recommend that backpack for hiking. It’s heavy as it is and very stiff , does not shape to your back , does not have security belt by the waist , it makes it so unstable. I just ended 13 mile hike on PCT with horrible back pain from unstable weight distribution. Zippers are jamming so it’s hard to get fast to bottle of water or whatever you need from backpack. For short trips …. Maybe 🤔 I love colors and fabric, that’s about it.

Great simple pack

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

Great simple pack, exactly as shown. I bough primarily because I couldn't find my Patagonia BlackHole 25L I use for flight travel and was looking for a cheaper option, but in the end am returning this one because I found my other pack, but compared to my other they are both fairly similar in size and utility, except this Backcountry Destination 20L is quite a bit cheaper and has space for a water bladder, and can fit a larger laptop. I almost kept this as a second/backup pack but already have too many. Great for a simple pack that can transition from office the gym to the trail, but in my opinion a little too rugged/outdoor-looking for use as everyday carry laptop bag for professional / white-collar customer meetings. Perfect size for airport airplane travel, will fit underseat to and a perfect 2nd travel-back to complement a roll-aboard that would go in the overhead.

Solid pack!

Looks bigger and fills more than what I think the average 20L would be - great quality construction and materials. Easily rivals the black hole patagonia pack I’ve had for years and replaced with this. Love!

Dimensions not accurate

The dimensions listed are 13 x 16 x 5in. Unfortunately, it is 19 inches tall and thus not eligible to fly as a personal item as desired.
