Lightweight everyday sneakers that can handle any adventure—Astral Rover Shoes
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
“I’ve worn the Astral Rover shoes on everything from city strolls to light hikes, and they’ve impressed me with their comfort and versatility. The minimalist design doesn’t sacrifice performance—the sticky rubber outsole is awesome for grip, even on wet rocks, and the zero-drop footbed feels really natural. These have become my go-to travel sneakers for sure.”
Every adventure begins with a single step—and the Astral Rover Shoes are ready to go wherever your day leads. From the pavement to the trail, they combine a laid-back look with rugged, performance-driven construction. The 100% recycled polyester canvas upper is durable and breathable, while the minimalist design puts your foot in a naturally balanced position for better stability and connection.
We love how the sticky G.ss Rubber™ outsole gives confidence on slick rocks and city streets alike. A wider toebox, zero drop geometry, and a supportive EVA midsole make the Rovers feel like they’re part of your foot—comfortable, secure, and ready for anything.

Ultimate bike shoe
My go-to mountain bike shoe! It runs a little more narrow than other Astral shoes, but has a stiff supportive midsole which is great for bike pedals.

Pretty Great
Love 'em. They're a thoughtful interpretation of the wide-toe-box approach (Lems, Altra, etc.) with a narrow, sporty fit and supportive sole. The substantial arch support happens to fit my foot precisely. It's almost like they took a custom mold of my foot. They do run a touch small. My normal size is 12 and I can sometimes get away with an 11.5. These fit comfortably snug.

Great but for durability
Long time TR1Mesh wearer, I wanted a more causal shoe for our Portugal trip. River has similar wider toe box like TR1 with same AMAZING grip and zero drop. Durability is the downfall of all Astral shoes I’ve owned, so I wasn’t shocked when sole separated from body inside both arches (easily fixed with krazy glue). I bought the other two colors of Rovers on sale, my 6th & 7th pairs of Astrals. I do love them, just wish they lasted longer.

The glue doesn’t glue!
The uppers are tough BUT the glue for the soles is rubbish - BOTH soles have come unstuck from the ball of the foot right through to the back of the arch.

A great find.
The fits great, a fantastic find, I definitely have a leg up on the competition. I enjoy the grip of the sole, the design is great and the feel is nice and snug.

They’re ok, but run short in sizing.
I ordered these hoping they could be a replacement for my current Astrals. Unfortunately, the shoes do not fit like a 13 and my toes were crammed into the end. I also came find the same soles as the Ramblers I have now which have just about shredded to pieces in less than a year. I truly miss the Hemp Donners. Best shoes I have ever owned. I still have two pairs of those. Though 5 and 3 years old now, I wore both every day for 2 years and they still have enough sole and body now I continue to use them on occasion. They have the stickiest, longest lasting soles I’ve ever seen on a shoe. I really wish Astral would bring the Hemp Donners back. I would buy 4 pairs. The current Astral line up just doesn’t compare.

Rover M
Everything about the shoe is great except they pucker on the top of my foot (between laces and toe end of shoe). Makes them look goofy. Probably due to the fact that the shoe not available in women's size 11, had to buy mens and my foot is too thin for that. Otherwise, they're comfortable and holding up well so far.
