Performs as advertised

Have worn Gel Kayano several years. Have had the 32 for about a month. Happy with it. Some reviews complain about the thinner tongue but it’s really not a problem. Doesn’t crinkle or shift and it fits fine. Cushion is great. This is a stability shoe, a trainer not a racer. Very happy with the purchase.

Poor fit

I've owned many generations of Kayano shoes. The fit has changed and it's very tight in the top of my foot now. Disappointed.

Great running shoes as always.

Helped alleviate my Achilles tendinitis. I just wish they were waterproof.

Poor soles

I've worn ASICS for running for decades. I've been wearing the same style shoe in all BLACK for work the past 8 years. The latest two models Kayano-31 and 32, the soles of the shoes break down too easily. I've worn my latest pair for about a month in an office only. Maybe 50 miles on them (easy walking miles). The soles are already breaking down/peeling apart. The same thing happened with my Kayano-31's. But I thought it was just a bad pair. Getting a warranty replacement on my 32's. If they don't last, then I will be sadly moving onto a new shoe brand.

Do not buy!

Foam is bad for ankles, my feet now lean to sides. What happened to Asics Gel? This trendy foam junk is tragic.

GEL-KAYANOs have helped my son's overpronation

Our son's feet are ovberpronated when walking running, and we've been using GEL-KAYANO's for him for years. I've lost rack of how many we've purchased as he is growing and we seem to get at least 3 pairs a year. I sincerely think it's helped improved his overpronation.

Lighter and More Energetic Kayano

The Kayano 32 feels lighter and more energetic on foot compared to my Kayano 30s, which have nearly 400 miles on them. I can pick up the pace more easily with the 32 while still enjoying the extra cushioning for impact protection. This iteration of the Kayano has been a great experience so far. The sizing is consistent with my other Kayano's, and the toe box feels roomier compared to the 30. So far, I'm really enjoying this shoe after just two runs and am excited to see how it performs after a few hundred miles.

Still good but trending in some wrong directions

They still fit well and are comfy to run in and they work well for overpronation, which is the most important thing. But the new tongue design is a total misfire. I can see what they were going for with the pull loops on both the tongue and heel, making it easier to pull the shoe on with a finger from each hand in each loop, but the tongue itself has been flattened out way too much so it's in danger of folding back under itself at the edges when you put your foot in, and the tongue loop isn't helpful enough to make up for that (nor was it ever hard enough to get the shoes on to make the tongue loop necessary). In my opinion the design should be rolled back to something more like the 30 or 31. The 31s were also a lot more squeak-prone on laminate floors than the 30s, not sure if that's due to a different material on the surface of the sole or something. I don't think the 32s are any better in that regard, although I'm not sure yet. I do like the pull loop on the heel — those were a nice addition on the 31s and I'm glad they're sticking around. Basically, the perfect Kayano shoe would be the 30 but with the heel loop from the 31/32s.
